Best Mage Build in Dungeon Quest Reborn: Spells & Gear Order

Updated 2026-09-02 · Roblox Dungeon Quest Reborn

Mage is the most-searched build in Dungeon Quest Reborn, and for good reason: every dungeon drops a Mage Legendary, the best single-target ability in the early game is a Mage spell, and the endgame buff Enhanced Inner Focus turns a Mage into the party's damage ceiling. This page is the progression, not a theory-craft; it follows what actually drops where.

Level numbers for early spells are inherited from the original game, which Reborn recreates; anything not yet re-confirmed in Reborn is noted.

The rule that decides everything

Your weapon's dungeon matters more than its rarity. A common Mage staff from the newest dungeon you can enter beats a Legendary from two dungeons back. So the build at every stage is: wear the previous dungeon's Mage set, equip the highest-dungeon staff you own, and run the two best spells you have unlocked. Chase the current dungeon's Legendary only until the next dungeon opens.

Level 1–30: Desert Temple

  • Spells: Innervate (level 1, doubles spell power for 8 seconds) and Lightning Strikes (Desert Temple Medium) — the highest single-target tick available this early. Blue Fireball (Medium) is the filler until Lightning Strikes drops.
  • Gear: Templar or Guardian set from Desert Temple; any Mage staff that drops.
  • Goal: level 20 for Insane, 27 for Nightmare, then 33 for Winter Outpost.

Level 32–55: Winter Outpost

  • Spells: Ice Needles (32) as your starter, Lightning Beam (39) for line damage, then swap to Fire Bomb (44) for AoE and Searing Beam (49) for sustained single-target. Piercing Rain (54) is the last unlock here.
  • Gear: Ice King's Mage set. Legendary here is warrior-only (Crystalized Greatsword), so don't farm for a staff — push through.
  • Goal: 60 for Pirate Island.

Level 60–125: the mid game

By Samurai Palace your two slots should be Enchanted Shuriken plus Innervate or a heal. Swap Shuriken for Phantom Striker when it drops at Ghastly Harbor. Universal Heal is the strongest heal in the game and belongs in one slot for any Mage who parties; solo Mages run two damage spells.

Level 130–165: Boss Raids to Aquatic Temple

  • Boss Raids (130): Hextech Overloaded Staff, Godforged Greatstaff or Twisted Wood Greatstaff. Three-and-a-half-minute runs; pure DPS check, perfect for Mage.
  • Orbital Outpost (135/140): Galactic Pike, Alien Mage set. Best regular drop is Solar Essence Staff.
  • Volcanic Chambers (150/155): Lava King's Spell Daggers, Lava King's Mage set. Best regular drop is Ancient Lava Axe.
  • Aquatic Temple (160/165): Sea King's Greatstaff, Triton Mage set. Regular: Enchanted Serpent Daggers. Bring a heal; every boss here has a passive.

Level 170+: the endgame build

Enchanted Forest (170/175) is where the build finishes:

  1. Enhanced Inner Focus (Nightmare drop) — the Legendary Mage self-buff. Community consensus treats it as mandatory from Insane onward in the late dungeons; without it your damage falls behind the time limits in Aquatic Temple and Northern Lands. Farm Enchanted Forest Nightmare until it drops. This is the single most important item for a Mage.
  2. Eden's Reaper (Ultimate) — the spell-damage ceiling. Even after Northern Lands opened it out-damages Laevattein. If it drops, you are done chasing weapons.
  3. Eldenbark Greatstaff (Legendary) — the stopgap until Eden's Reaper.
  4. Eldenbark Mage set, then Valhalla Mage set from Northern Lands at 180.

Final loadout: Enhanced Inner Focus + Universal Heal (party) or Enhanced Inner Focus + Phantom Striker (solo), Eden's Reaper or Eldenbark Greatstaff, Valhalla Mage set.

Skill points

Skill resets cost gold unless you own the Free Skill Resets gamepass. Item upgrade levels can never be reset, so put upgrade gold into a weapon you will keep for a while — an Eldenbark Greatstaff, not a mid-game staff you will replace in ten levels. Gamepass prices are on the VIP page.
